Why are Homes for sale in Plumas Lake, Ca so cheap?

Are you talking about plumas lake, ca .....which used to be called Linda, CA ........Olivehurst area.........???

Do a search with linda, ca or Olivehurst, Ca or powerline rd with the word 'flood' in it and see what you find.

Here's a scary thought.....from the Sac Bee or Appeal Democrat I think........

';Yuba County officials and developer representatives stressed that the cash flow from building homes is needed to raise $135 million to fix levees along the Feather and Yuba rivers. The levee repairs, they said, would protect not just the new homes, but about 25,000 people ...';

They are selling homes in a flood prone area in an effort to raise money from the people who buy these homes so they can fix these levees. A little bass ackwards if you ask me....a dynamic often found in that neck of the woods.....

Changing the name of an area is easy. Making it flood proof takes more $$. Those levees have not been built to flood control levels. They were largely agricultural levees.

The land in that area was cheap and caused alot of controversy in building out there without levee upgrades. My grandmother lived in Olivehurst for 2 floods in 84 and in 94. Had to be evacuated twice. That area has been a low income area with little in the way of development until recently.

The levee has broken at star bend and also near the peachtree mall.

Winter time brings levee walkers to look for boils. Star bend as well as Shanghai bend on the Yuba City side have had issues.
